After never finishing Neuromancer, I decided it was time to read again. I wanted to get into a really good book that would keep me interested throughout. In the past I’ve found that a Stephen King novel can do this for me, but I couldn’t find anything at the bookstore that was really appealing. Frustrated, I was leaving the store when I walked past a display for Dan Brown’s current hit The DaVinci Code. I am very interested in reading this, but I would prefer to wait for it in paperback. But, on the display were some of his other books. One of which, Angels & Demons is actually a prequel to DaVinci with the same main character, Robert Langdon. I didn’t even know there was a prequel. So, on a whim, I picked it up and I am here to say that it was excellent. It was fast paced, had lots of twists, and generally kept me up way too late. That’s what I want from a book.

On a somewhat related note, I asked the lady at BAM (as I was picking up another Dan Brown novel, Digital Fortress, which I will be starting today) if she knew when The DaVinci Code was coming out in paperback and she said that it was not even on their list of coming releases. That sucks since it was first released in hardcover in March of 03. She also said that as long as the publisher was still making money on the hardcover, don’t expect the paperback. So everyone stop buying the hardcover. Thanks.
