Back to work for me after an entire week off with the flu. Well, almost an entire week, I worked from home of Friday. I have learned a lot from having the flu and I would like to share it with you:

  • The flu is a bitch. I have never felt as sick as I did on Monday/Tuesday. I could barely move. I am surprised that I was able to safely drive the 25 or so miles to the doctor on Tuesday.
  • The flu can make you tired as hell or as awake as hell. More accurately, the flu makes you weak and tired and the medicine probably makes you not sleepy at all. An interesting mix.
  • When you have the flu, people are scared of you. I got a lot of emails from people at work that said, ‘Hope you feel better, but don’t come anywhere near work.’ I guess people don’t want to get sick.
  • The flu is an excellent diet. I am noticeably skinnier as people pointed out today at work. Bread, soup, and jell-o is the diet of champions. Really skinny champions. Maybe they play chess or something.

In summation, I would have to say that as much as I enjoy living alone, I was definitely glad to get out of this place for an extended period of time today. To celebrate my new health, I am going to have a bowl of soup for dinner. Have to maintain my weight for the upcoming pool season.

Soon Will I Rest

I can’t sleep! Damn this medicine and its 1.1% likelihood of insomnia.

The only joy that I am getting from my sickness is that I hope that my late night coughing and hacking is keeping the loud-walkers that live above me awake. You would think that after living in an apartment for over a year you would figure out where the squeaky parts of the floor are and learn to avoid them for the sake of your downstairs neighbor. I do that for my downstairs neighbor, because I care. But, they haven’t learned. And they keep the weirdest hours. I mean who wakes up before 9am on the weekends? I sure don’t.

Well, the not sleeping thing is probably for the best right now, because as I was typing this someone’s car alarm went off for an entire cycle right outside the bedroom window. Maybe the medicine is looking out for me after all.

It seems that Brian ‘Head’ Welch is leaving the band he helped found, KoRn. He has decided to dedicate his life to the church, which is cool, I guess. I am a fan of KoRn from way back in the day, but haven’t really been interested in their recent work. As most bands do, they’ve sort of fallen off in their older age.

Like it or not, KoRn is often times referenced as one of the bands that started the whole nu-metal scene. Lots of bands have seen fame and fortune following the formula that KoRn and others like them helped create.

Their self-titled debut is still one of my favorite CDs and has gotten me through quite a few bad moods. ‘Life Is Peachy’ is also a really good offering. Thank you, KoRn.

The original title for this post was, ‘MaiZe’.

The doctor believes that I have the flu. YES! I also have a 103 degree temp. YES YES!! This is just great. I don’t think I have ever had the flu before and I feel like crap. My diet over the past two days has consisted of soup, toast, and jell-o.

One fun thing was that the nurse put this breather mask thing on my face that made me breathe in all this mist. It made me feel like Darth Vader so I was sure to do the, ‘I am your father…’ line. It was fun. Now I’m off to watch Empire.

Man, I’m sick again. This sucks. I feel much worse than when I was sick in January, so bad that I didn’t goto work today. Me throat and chest really hurt from coughing, I have a headache, and I slept for what felt like 20 minutes last night.

Its nice to know that you can always count on Yoda for a good title.
