Awhile back I mentioned that my friend Louis was going to be in a movie called Geekin’, well the official teaser trailer is now online. You don’t get too much here, but that is the point of the teaser trailer, to tease. What you do get looks good and much more professional than I had anticipated.

I look forward to this getting a distribution deal and one day seeing it on the big screen.

My dad emailed me today to let me know that the Regular Guys are coming back to Atlanta morning drive time on 96Rock starting on Monday, 6-10 am. 96Rock’s website doesn’t mention it anywhere, but I heard a commercial on my way home today to confirm this. I think they’ve been on WGST for a few weeks/months, but from 8-12 am, which is not a time slot that I can listen.

All I have to say is, ‘Shit yes!’. The current morning show, The Bob and Tom Show, is the worst thing I have ever heard. In fact, I blame them for me being late to work every morning because I keep hitting the snooze button so I don’t have to hear them talk. I can’t stand the sound of their voices. And, it is not funny. At all. Ever.

Thank you 96Rock for bringing back an entertaining, *local* morning show.

Some local flickr-ers got together for a photo stroll of Decatur. This was actually the third such stroll, but I missed the first (Oakland Cemetery) and second (West End). There were nine of us and we split up into two groups and just sort of spread out. Many photos were taken and uploaded. Thanks to Slingerdoo for organizing this stroll.

Also, on the way home, I stopped by the East Decatur Station and took more photos.

Been in another training class this week, so at home computer time has been limited due to brain mushiness. Therefore, no posting.

Upon the recommendation of a few co-workers and I think Cyanbane (a few years ago), I recently picked up The Dark Elf Trilogy. These are the first three (duh) books, chronologically, that introduce the character of Drizzt Do’Urden to the Forgotten Realms, which is a D&D universe-thing. Or something. Not sure how that whole thing works. All I know, is that Drizzt is a pretty popular character in the realm of modern fantasy. These books, along with many others, were written by R. A. Salvatore.

You see, I’m not a huge fantasy guy. I’ve read the essentials, like The Lord of The Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. But, I don’t really know about the whole D&D thing. The good news is, that’s not important. These are some great books and are pretty self-contained.

Through training and genes Drizzt grows to become one of the finest swordsmen in the whole of Menzoberranzan, the dark elf city where he lives. This is good because it lets Salvatore write some pretty amazing battle scenes. Very descriptive, very easy to get the picture going in your head. Another thing that keeps the reader interested is Drizzt’s constant struggle with trying to figure out the right thing to do. The dark elf way of life is very harsh and non-forgiving, and Drizzt isn’t sure he likes all that jazz.

I’m on the third book (Sojourn) now and just picked up the next trilogy, chronologically, (The Icewind Dale) in the story of Drizzt. I keep dropping the ‘chronologically’ thing in, because Salvatore wrote The Icewind Dale books first, but later went back to tell the origins of Drizzt after he became such a popular character. Also, there are quite a few more books after The Icewind Dale, so my reading card is pretty booked right now. But, that’s a good thing.

Oh, and just to maintain my nerd-dom, since admitting that I haven’t really had too much experience in the fantasy world, I do have over 20 Star Wars novels, a life size Boba Fett cutout proudly displayed in my apartment, a Boba Fett sticker on my car, and photo mosaic posters of Darth Vader and Yoda. I’m also keeping track of how many questions I get right/wrong on my daily Star Wars trivia calendar. Thank you.

Spent the afternoon celebrating the pending wedding of my friends Carr and TIFF. Photos were taken and uploaded to flickr. This one is my favorite.

I’ve known Carr since college. He was the guy that ruined all of the curves in the CS classes, so for the longest time no one liked him. Then, we started to do group projects and he became very popular. Also, he is the best hand farter alive. Hand farting? Its when you make fart sounds with your hand. He’s real good at it. And, he likes Snickers.

I learned today that he and TIFF have been dating for 8 (not 10) years, he graduated third in his high school class, and that his nickname is Carrbear. Must remember that one for all time.

I look forward to the wedding where I can take more pictures and hopefully find out more embarrassing things about Carr.

…I say congratulations and best wishes.

I am very happy to report that my good friend Adam and his girlfriend Melissa have gotten engaged.

Adam and I have had a very interesting relationship over the years. When we first started working together we didn’t get along. At all. In fact we pretty much didn’t like each other. At all. I thought he was cocky and arrogant and he had this ‘my way of doing things is better than your way’ sort of vibe. You might be saying to yourself, ‘Hey this is supposed to be a happy post’. Well it is, give it a second. Honestly, I can almost guarantee that if Adam were writing this about me from his point of view, it would be just as harsh, except there would be words like ‘jackass’ or ’smartass’ involved.

Then, over time, something happened and we started to get along better. We were still pretty unfriendly to each other at work, but outside of work we hung out more. And we had some great times, as can be seen by the many drunken photos of us at Adam’s MyPhotopia site. By the end of Adam’s stay in Atlanta, I can honestly say that he ended up being one of my best friends and I was really unhappy about him moving to Chicago.

But, his move to Chicago was for a good reason. You see, Melissa, formally of Atlanta, was now in school in the windy city and they had weathered the long distance relationship for too long. Plus, he managed to secure a great job. Melissa is a very cool girl and was always fun to hang out with. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen her without that great smile that she has.

Anyway, congrats and good luck to Adam and Melissa. And don’t invite me to your wedding unless you plan on me actually showing, because I will. Only thing, I think it should be in England because I’ve never been there.
