The teaser trailer for Hostel is up at Yahoo! Movies. Looks creepy good.
I’m not sure how I didn’t notice this before, but Quentin Tarantino and Scott Spiegel are both executive producers. I’m going to assume that everyone knows who Tarantino is, but Spiegel is probably lesser known. His highlights include being the co-writer of Evil Dead II, director of From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, and appearing in small roles in a bunch of titles.
This is all good, I suppose, but I’m not really a fan of the “Quentin Tarantino Presents” marketing blurb in the trailer. I guess the idea is that it’ll put extra butts in the seats.
The word from Bloody-Disgusting is that Eli Roth’s next flick Hostel has received a new release date of December 21, 2005. The new date is 2.5 weeks sooner than previously reported and sets itself up as a nice Christmas present to horror fans.
Because I’m tired of answering the same questions all the time:
Q: Are you still alive?
A: Yes.
Q: Have you found a job yet?
A: No.
Q: How is being unemployed and staying at home everyday?
A: Boring. Real boring.
Q: What do you do to pass the time?
A: There was an X-Files marathon on SciFi the other day.
Q: Why haven’t you answered my email(s)?
A: I’m not good at responding to email(s) sometimes.
Q: Why can’t I leave a comment to this post?
A: I turned off commenting. You can email me if you like.
Q: What’s your email address?
A: I’m not telling.
Q: How many Bacardi and Cokes have you had tonight?
A: Five (5) six (6) seven (7).
I’ll update this as needed. UPDATED.
Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits has posted his review of the Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith DVD, which streets on November 01. Mr. Hunt gives big points to the video and audio and breaks down the movie and some of the bonus material. Not surprisingly, the review contains some minor spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie. There’s really no excuse for not already seeing the movie, though.
My original thoughts on ROTS can be re-read, because I know you already read them once, here.
I haven’t talked to anyone, beside myself, since around 11:00 pm on Tuesday night. I’m not being anti-social or anything, there’s just no one around. I’ll admit that I did avoid a few phone calls to extend my streak, so sorry to anyone that might have called.
Unfortunately my 67 hour talking fast is about to come to an end as I prepare to go out and get some dinner. While amongst people again I’ll try to remember how to use words such as ‘burrito’ and ‘extra cheese’.
You see, it’s about setting goals and sticking to them that’ll get you places in life.
Last year around this time I posted my all time top 10 horror and suspense movies. Looking back, I don’t think anything would change on this list in the year since. There have been some pretty good movies since, just not top 10 worthy.
My favorite horror of the past year was Saw. It got some shit from the Internet for poor acting and lacking in originality, but that’s all crap. Its a horror movie, bad acting is allowable and sometimes welcome. As for its originality, sure it has a Se7en feel to it, but that doesn’t bother me at all. The ending was great and I expect to be saying similar comments next year for Saw II, due October 28.
Another of note from the past year was The Skeleton Key. Its more thriller/suspense than horror, but it was fun nonetheless. Again, a good ending and a little Kate Hudson side boob, if I remember correctly. Mmmmm, side boob.
But, the real reason why I thought to post this is that Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Lions Gate has set a release date of January 6, 2006 for Eli Roth’s next flick, Hostel. You will remember Mr. Roth as writer/director of #7 on my all time top 10 horror and suspense movies list, Cabin Fever. I’ve been waiting to see what Roth has in store for us horror fans, and it looks pretty good. From what I’m reading, we can expect a gore fest.
