Since I moved in the past year and never updated my address with all the places I should have, I spent the morning getting the necessary things done for my car registration.
First stop was to get the emission check. This was relatively painless and didn’t take too long. The only negative was that my steering wheel was all grimy after the dude drove my car.
Next was the office of the Fulton County Tax Commissioner for my vehicle registration. I chose the one in the Sandy Springs area instead of the one downtown, because downtown is just a pain in the ass for parking and such. I think I made the right choice. The crowd was minimal and the people were very helpful.
The final stop was the DMV to get my address changed on my license. I figured since I was out, I might as well get this updated too. Oh, and the DMV isn’t called the DMV anymore. Now it’s the Department of Driver Services, or DDS. I don’t think they offer teeth cleaning, though. I had to wait the longest here, and I swear people that got there after me got their number called before me.
As a whole, it was a successful morning.
The February 2006 APWBWGTTD was held at the Graveyard Tavern in East Atlanta. The Graveyard Tavern is pretty new to the neighborhood, opening in late 2005. I’ve never been before and was pretty surprised to see how large the place was. The menu consists mostly of panini with a few dinner specials. I had the petite fillet with broccoli and potatoes and it was excellent.
Around 20 people showed up, with quite a few new people. I don’t remember them all, but I know that Paul of PT’s Big Adventure was one of them. Of course the regular schmoes were there too.
As always, photos exist on flickr.
So as to not scare everyone at the APWBWGTTD event tonight, I’m going to let you all in on a little secret…
Please disregard this post. This is merely a test. Don’t read.
Yesterday I purchased and watched Saw II on the shiny disc. Just to remind the haters out there, I thought the first Saw was excellent and was very much looking forward to part dos.

Jigsaw is up to his games again. This time a group of seemingly unrelated people are trapped in a house filled with a lethal nerve gas and plenty of booty traps (that’s what I said, booby traps!). To win the game they must find the antidote that is stashed in various locations throughout the house before they cease to be alive anymore. Some of the antidote can be obtained alone, and some of it requires the group to work together.
Without giving too much away, lots of other stuff happens too.
While I was watching I was thinking to myself that this was definitely not as good as the first. But, then the ‘holy shit!’ moment happened and the whole thing kicked ass. It was great. If I’ve learned anything from Jigsaw, it’s to wait for the ‘holy shit!’ moment. Also, don’t do drugs, take your life for granted, pretend you are sick and unable to work, etc.
Tobin Bell turns in an excellent performance as Jigsaw. He’s creepy, yet vulnerable at the same time. The rest of the acting feels above average for a low budget horror flick, but nothing spectacular. Having a large group of people involved in the game this time gave the filmmakers some more room to create a bunch of memorable, painful events. Remember the reverse bear trap from the first Saw? Yeah, painful like that. It all works well.

IMDb already has a listing for Saw III, which is slated for release later this year. I welcome the idea of a third Saw flick. It’s been many years since a quality horror series existed.
I wanted to mess around with a tabbed layout for another site that I might work on some day, but didn’t want to create a new page to tinker with, so I just added tabs to the current layout on my test site. When I was done I decided that I kind of liked it, so here is Imperial Cloud City – Green w/Tabs. Along the way I also fixed a pretty dumb IE error on the Archive page.
I’d like to say that I did this all myself without any help at all from the Internet, but that would be a lie. In fact, the way that I had it working was WAY more complicated than it needed to be. This thread in the WP support forum was most helpful along with this page in the codex.
Also, I wrote a tiny plugin that displays some stats about the site, which can be found in the About tab. Right now it lists the count for posts, comments, categories, and unique commenters. The top 10 most commented posts and top 10 most active commenters can also be found. I know there already are plugins written that do this sort of thing, but I wanted to do one myself. I’m bored.
Thanks to Edgemoor for beta testing a screen shot of the new layout/plugin a week or so ago. Maybe he’ll start blogging again.
As always, let me know if you find anything wrong or if you hate everything about it. Also, if you have any ideas about additional stats to add to the About page, I would be interested in hearing about those too.
