A few years ago, Edgemoor bought me a bottle of Appleton Estate White rum when he was in Jamaica. It’s good. Real good. I’ve tried to find it around town, but was always unsuccessful. Appleton Special, yes. Appleton White, no. In fact, it’s so good with Coke that I’ve kept the last rum and Coke’s worth in the freezer all these years, because I didn’t want to be without it in case I needed to have the most awesome rum and Coke one last time. You know, on my deathbed or something.
Anyway, this weekend I found it at Green’s (the Buford Highway one) and couldn’t be happier about it. But, here’s the best part: it’s cheaper than Bacardi.
we should see if Manuel’s has Appleton tonight.
There will be Appleton’s awaitin’ for you the next time you come over.
I’m in.
I lied. I’m out. Have an extra for me if they have it.

Well ain’t that somethin’.
Until I visited Jamaica, the only thing I’d drink was Guinness. Since that’s not really a beach drink, I was forced to step out of my comfort zone and try something else – that’s when I met Appletons and Coke. Returning stateside I was sad to find that particular rum wasn’t readily available, which is when I met the Capt’n. You know the rest.
