Going For Chicago

When I originally heard that Adam and Melissa were engaged, I was happy for them. Then I started to think about it and realized that their wedding was going to interfere with my yearly trip to Chicago. I couldn’t let this happen. Quickly plans started to form in my head; some good, some bad. What I ultimately decided to do was just invite myself up some random weekend way before wedding crunch time. Luckily, Adam fell for it.

So, that’s where I was this past weekend. Here we go with the recap:

Friday night we dined at Adam and Melissa’s where Melissa put together some pasta with meat sauce and a nice caprese salad. Yum. After that we headed out to meetup with some of the ChiFlickr Chicago Meetup Club where much photoing and drinking was accomplished. It was really pretty similar to a night out in the ATL. Imagine that.

Saturday day we ran around town to various places and accomplished various things. Most importantly, we stopped at the Puma store where I purchased a pair of RS100’s. Nice. That evening we ate at a sushi joint where I had roasted salmon over noodles and veggies, which is not sushi. Next we hit some bars with various peoples, including former ATLien Face. We stayed out late and had too much to drink, featuring a shot of tequila, which I almost never do. Not a fan.

Sunday we recovered from the drunkenness and watched England defeat Ecuador 1-0. On the way to the airport, we got stuck in a little traffic, but made it in plenty of time for my flight, which ended up being delayed anyway. The best part was how the departure time was listed as 7:00 (from 5:50), which really only meant that we had to leave the gate at 7:00 so another plane could use it and we would sit on the runway for another 30 minutes.

Anyway, successful weekend. Thanks to Adam and Melissa for allowing me to crash their weekend and for the free guest room and for doing their best to remove all the cat dander from the room and for anything else.
