Basically everything from parts 1 and II of The iPod Accessory Quest have been returned because they sucked. That’s not to say that I am without iPod accessories, though.

I went with the iSkin eVo3, as suggested by duane, for protectiveness. It’s a pretty nice, silicone type case with a hard plastic front. The best part is that the iPod is as covered as possible. The only openings are for the headphones at the top and the dock port at the bottom. And, the dock port has a flap that covers it up pretty nicely. A negative is that lint and dust and crap sticks to the silicone pretty easily, but the case is washable in soap and water (without the iPod in it), so it’s not really that big of a problem.

On my third attempt at a tape adapter I struck gold. The first two were either too loud or too unloud. This time I went with the Belkin Cassette Adapter for iPod. Nothing fancy here, just the standard tape adapter. The headphone plug housing is a little wide and doesn’t fit too well with the iSkin, but I anticipate fixing this with a utility knife and maybe some sandpaper. It sounds great, though.

For headphones I went with the Koss PortaPro, the ugliest, best sounding smallish headphones ever. I previously owned the SportaPro, a slightly cheaper version, and loved them. These consistently get excellent reviews all over the web, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong. For around $40, I’m not sure there are better sounding headphones.

I have to say that having all these items has really made me appreciate the iPod more. It’s great to have pretty much every song that I own with me in the car or at work. Sometimes I just gotta listen to some Sir Mix-A-Lot, you know? Now I can.

That’s it. No more iPod talking.
