This weekend was one that I have been looking forward to for sometime: it was the wedding of my great friends Adam and Melissa.
I arrived in Boston, Mass. bright and early on Friday morning. After a long wait for the rental car, and a 1.5ish hour drive I made it to my final destination of Falmouth, Mass. and The Inn on The Square. My room was in The Cottage, so I was extra special, or something.
Friday evening was the rehearsal (had to remember things) and rehearsal dinner (fun). The rehearsal went pretty well. I was paired up with Melissa’s step-mom, Joann, and I think it was a great pairing. We had fun with it the whole weekend. After running through things twice, we headed over to The Flying Bridge for dinner and drinks. While there Adam and Melissa took the time to say some really great things about all of the wedding party members, which was awesome because I was one of them, and we then enjoyed some excellent food, including New England clam chowder.
Around 9 or so other guests joined us at the bar for drinks and conversations. Here’s where I got to hang with current ATLiens Robert and Sue and former ATLien Cameron (he posts less than me). Also got to meet a bunch of fun new people and re-meet some of Adam’s friends from England. Finally, we closed out the evening at another bar at an unknown time.
Saturday was busy, but fun.
After almost no sleep and a 7:00 am wakeup call, I jumped in the car and headed back to the airport to pickup my awesome friend Lori who had to wake up at 4:00 am just to make the trip. Yeah, I know, that’s pretty awesome. I’m truly lucky to have such friends.
1.5ish hours later and we were back in Falmouth for a quick lunch and just enough time to get all pretty before heading over to have photos taken. After photos we shot over to the church where I got to use my ushership skills to separate the bride’s friends/family from the groom’s friends/family. Next up was the actual ceremony. A moderately stressful moment was that Joann and I were the first to enter the church, so I was worried about walking too fast or tripping or something like that. Luckily, we did fine, but tripping would have been funnier.
The ceremony was followed by the reception where drinks and food and a long, yet funny best man’s speech were enjoyed by all. I was also able to spend some time with James and Tom from Atlanta, and Jeff from Chicago, so that was fun. Everyone danced the night away to the best wedding band of all time and finally called it a night after a brief after-party at Melissa’s mom’s villa.
Today was breakfast and tux drop-off before heading back to the airport for the 3rd time in 3 days and home. I’m glad my rental car had unlimited miles, because I drove much.
Adam has been a fantastic friend to me over most of the 4 years I’ve known him (there was a brief period where we hated each other). He’s always available to chat about whatever is on my mind and offer wise advice as needed. I couldn’t ask for a better friend, even if he is from another country. One thing you’ll note if you head over to flickr and see the photos from the weekend is that Melissa has the best smile ever. And it’s always on display. She is smart, beautiful and an all around great person. Adam is a very lucky man.
I wish Adam and Melissa the best in life and hope that they have many happy and healthy years together.

Yep. I am pretty awesome.
It was great meeting everyone. Next time I’ll try to be more awake, though.
