I picked up a game called Freedom Fighters for the PC the other day. Its a pretty cool 3rd person shooter from EA games. The story line is pretty interesting: The Soviets were the first to develop and use the hydrogen bomb during WWII. This lead them to take over most of Europe. Time goes by, they place nukes in Cuba, and the Mexican Communist party wins a large election to our South. The game takes place in the present day within a Soviet occupied Manhattan. You play a NYC plumber (not Mario or Luigi) that is thrust into the action by joining up with a small, but expanding group of Freedom Fighters. The best part is that you have a monkey wrench at your disposal for hand-to-wrench combat if needed and you get to travel through the sewer system. Also, as you clear certain stages, you get to hoist the old Red White and Blue over the formally held Soviet locations.
I also recently d/led the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo. Its great fun. My personal favorite is the Mini-Gun as it reminds me of the gun carried by Jesse “The Body” Ventura in the film Predator.
