This weekend featured the Atlanta bachelor party for my very good friend Adam (aka: British, Ducky Duckworth, or just simply Ducks). His wedding will be the first where I am a member of the wedding party. Hope I don’t mess anything up.
Recap:
After a bit of a flight delay due to imaginary bad weather, Adam and his buddy Jeff got into town around 8 or so. We had a quick bite to eat and they checked into the hotel, then we hit the Highlands. It was a pretty low-key night of drinks and friends and catching up, which was awesome. We closed out the night with a stop at the Majestic, naturally.
Saturday we spent the afternoon enjoying lunch and scenery at the Park Tavern. A fried grouper sandwich was eaten. From here we metup at Mark’s new joint to head over to Turner Field for some Braves/Cubs action. Unfortunately for Ducks and Mark and Jeff, the Cubs lost, but that’s life. I love going to baseball games, even if I don’t care at all about the teams that are playing.
Here’s where I might need some assistance remembering what actually happened:
Next, we hit Smith’s Olde Bar for some old school foosball action. A lot was drunked and we pretty much were on the table all night. It should be noted that Robert and I were the first to beat Mark and Darrin, ending they’re many game win streak. There was foosball, pool, alcohol, and even some arm wrestling, basically a good time. I’m pretty sure we intended to hit Midtown, but that never happened.
Closing time came around and we started leaving. When we were outside some chicas asked about after hours bars and we told them about the Cabin Room, which none of us have ever actually been to. Next thing I know, Ducks, Jeff, Marcos, 2 chicks, and I are in a cab over to the Cabin Room. I’ll go ahead and say that this was probably the worst idea of the weekend. I hope it wasn’t mine. $20 covers later and we’re in some log cabin looking place drinking more drinks. Weird. I think I finally made it home by 4:30.
Today Ducks and Jeff and I enjoyed some brunch from the patio of the Brewhouse Cafe in L5P. I was pretty excited to see Brioche French Toast on the menu, but was sadly disappointed that it wasn’t really that good. There was something called an ‘apple raspberry coulis’ on it that was way too tart and pretty much ruined the dish. If you know only one thing about me, know that I love french toast.
After that, we headed over to Twains in the Dec where we let Adam kick our balls in at pool. They had some kind of mad corned beef extravaganza going on today and it smelled great. Adam and Jeff both got sandwiches and I couldn’t resist bringing home a pound of the delicious goodness. Dinner for the next few days is pretty much set for me. If you know only two things about me, know that last one and then add that corned beef is really focking important to my taste buds.
Finally, there was the drive to the airport and the always sad goodbyes. There were hugs and a few tears, but in the end smiles all around. Most of that was untrue.
All in all, I say successful as hell weekend. It was an all out good time of friends and food and alcohol. It was awesome to finally meet Jeff and to have Ducks in town, if only for the weekend, and to tear it up like the good old days.

A fourth thing to know is that Marcos helped with the Braves game planning. So thanks goto him aswell.
Thanks Ducks. Another excellent weekend (that i didn’t have to plan) is in the immediate future.

If you need to know a third thing about Brian, know that he does a great job of organizing and planning a bachelor party weekend and is a great host. Me and Jeff had a great time even if the stupid flight home was delayed by nearly 3 hours for more imaginary weather. Thanks Brian. You’re a great friend and I can’t wait to tear it up in Cape Cod with you at the wedding.
