…I say congratulations and best wishes.

I am very happy to report that my good friend Adam and his girlfriend Melissa have gotten engaged.

Adam and I have had a very interesting relationship over the years. When we first started working together we didn’t get along. At all. In fact we pretty much didn’t like each other. At all. I thought he was cocky and arrogant and he had this ‘my way of doing things is better than your way’ sort of vibe. You might be saying to yourself, ‘Hey this is supposed to be a happy post’. Well it is, give it a second. Honestly, I can almost guarantee that if Adam were writing this about me from his point of view, it would be just as harsh, except there would be words like ‘jackass’ or ’smartass’ involved.

Then, over time, something happened and we started to get along better. We were still pretty unfriendly to each other at work, but outside of work we hung out more. And we had some great times, as can be seen by the many drunken photos of us at Adam’s MyPhotopia site. By the end of Adam’s stay in Atlanta, I can honestly say that he ended up being one of my best friends and I was really unhappy about him moving to Chicago.

But, his move to Chicago was for a good reason. You see, Melissa, formally of Atlanta, was now in school in the windy city and they had weathered the long distance relationship for too long. Plus, he managed to secure a great job. Melissa is a very cool girl and was always fun to hang out with. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen her without that great smile that she has.

Anyway, congrats and good luck to Adam and Melissa. And don’t invite me to your wedding unless you plan on me actually showing, because I will. Only thing, I think it should be in England because I’ve never been there.

Aw shucks, thanks Brian. Melissa and I are glad to have you as good friend. The only thing is, you are such a wiseass :-) Just kidding, that’s what makes you so much fun to hang out with. I’m afraid that you will be partially disappointed as we expect to host the wedding in Boston some time next year, not England. However, I can’t guarantee the Bachelor Party won’t be there…

hmm… bachelor party in England might be more fun than wedding in England. I approve.

Thanks Brian. That was really sweet of you. Bachelor party in England with all of the ATL boys (and then some!)…should I be worried?
