To read about the previous Secret Date Night, go here.

This time, I was the recipient of Secret Date Night, so that was awesome.

We began Saturday evening at Fritti. To start, we ordered the Calamari Fritti, which was light and crispy and delicious. There were super large tentacle clusters and perfectly tender rings. Really delicious. For my main I had the Frutti di Mare. It’s a cheeseless pizza topped with shrimp, scallops, calamari, and mussels. It was a little watery, most likely due to the water content of the seafood and the lack of cheese, but I loved it. Lori had the Crudo e Rucola, a pizza topped with arugula and prosciutto. Again, so good.

After dinner we headed across the street to Dad’s Garage for a performance of Song of the Living Dead. It’s a musical about love and zombies. The show was great — funny, bloody and totally inappropriate at times. Pretty much everything you’d expect. And who would have guessed that zombies could dance? If you get a chance to see this, you should. I had so much fun.

It’s awesome to have someone that knows me so well and can plan a perfect evening like this. I’m very lucky.

I read the latest installment of Jahnke’s Electric Theater this morning, because I like to read. In it Mr. Jahnke posted about The Strangers (warning: non-turnoffable audio), a new horror flick due this May. I was previously unaware of this one, and have to say that it looks creepy and good. I would consider seeing this in a movie theater establishment.

Watch the trailer here.

Halloween Stuff

Tonight we’ll be watching The Exorcist, which I’ve never seen before and I’m a little freaked out by. Exorcisms creep me out. I’ve actually owned the DVD for over a year and was planning on watching it last Halloween, but it didn’t happen. I haven’t even unwrapped the plastic so as to contain the demons.

Also,

In honor of the season, here’s some horror/comedy/claymation.

Last night I had a dream about ants that when they bite you, give you poison ivy. Poison Ivy Ants! Freaky. I haven’t had any run-ins with ants or poison ivy in a long time, so I’m not exactly sure where this came from. There was a pretty gigantic swarm of bees outside work yesterday, so that could have something to do with it. And, I’m highly highly allergic to poison ivy, so maybe that fear lives in my brain all the time.

Or it could have just been totally random. Whatever the reason, it freaked my shit out. I remember being afraid to fall asleep in the dream because I might get bit by a Poison Ivy Ant. Also, thinking how does one avoid Poison Ivy Ants in general. Like they would chase me and over power me and bite me and give me poison ivy.

Thankfully, I survived the Poison Ivy Ants so that I could share the experience with you.

This is one of my favorite newish videos on Super Deluxe. Zombies! Kung Fu! Hell! All this set to creepy sounds with cool stop-action effects make for a great viewing experience.
